ROUGE: Book Club Podcast on Dark Side of the Word

rouge by mona awad book cover with red shoes

Hello, Tartlets and Darksiders! A new book club podcast episode is up on Dark Side of the Word. Join me and Kait as we discuss the novel Rouge by Mona Awad.

Belle isn’t coping well after returning home for her mother’s funeral. First, there’s the fact that her mother died falling off an ocean cliff. Then, there are all the mysterious debts she left behind. The fact that her mother sold her beloved dress shop. The shirtless window cleaner. And the enchanted, red shoes that lead Belle to a neighboring manor hiding a secret, exclusive spa… the very spa that her mom was visiting before she died. But, hey, who can turn down a free beauty treatment? Certainly not Belle, though it may end up leading her down the same perilous path that her mother took.

In this episode, Kait and I discuss if there’s a demonic presence in the book, the Tom Cruise of it all, and how low of a rating we can actually give a book.

Kait and I are taking December off from the podcast so we can stuff ourselves with cookies and joy, so join us in January 2024 when we resume our usual episode schedule.

January’s book club read will be: Lone Women by Victor Lavalle. Start reading the book now so you can follow along next month!
