Hello, Tartlets and Darksiders! A new book club podcast episode is up on Dark Side of the Word. Join me and Kait as we discuss the nonfiction book Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs?: And Other Questions about Dead Bodies by Caitlin Doughty.

What’s this episode about?

Yes, Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? is a different kind of book club read for us. But, talking about what happens to bodies after death is definitely a dark topic. So, it fits! And, it’s good to branch out of one’s comfort zone every now and then.

I found everything in Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? fascinating. And, Kait and I both loved Doughty’s signature humorous, matter-of-fact, but still-respectful approach to talking about all things death, decay, burials, science, and even how the film industry has influenced our ideas about death.

And — AND!!! — be sure to listen to our “Morbid Curiosity” Q&A session in this episode, where I ask Kait all sorts of questions inspired by the topics in Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs. I answer the questions, too, and we were both surprised by some of the things we learned about each other… and ourselves.

Trigger/Grossness Warnings

Listeners and readers, beware: the topics discussed in Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? are not for the faint of heart.

If you survived reading Doughty’s previous book, Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, you have nothing to fear. But, if you’re on the squeamish side, wade into this one carefully. Both dead humans and animals are discussed in this book.
