THE BOG WIFE (Dark Side of the Word Podcast)

the bog wife by kay chronister

Hello, Tartlets and Darksiders! A new book club podcast episode is up on Dark Side of the Word. Join me and Kait as we discuss the Appalachian folk horror novel The Bog Wife by Kay Chronister.

Fresh on the heels of reading The Bog Wife, Kait and I are considering re-naming our podcast “Is This Horror?” Just kidding. Mostly. But, The Bog Wife is another in a long line of reads that didn’t live up to what we were hoping for from a “horror book.”

In this episode, we explore the themes of family dynamics, horror elements, and the Appalachian setting in The Bog Wife, while sharing our personal experiences and thoughts on the narrative. The conversation touches on the characters’ arcs, the writing style, and the overall impact of the story, leading to a critical evaluation of the book’s effectiveness as a horror tale.
